Furniture Hire Tips for Downsizers

If you are downsizing your family home and want to make your house look amazingly desirable for the ‘younger gen’ to buy – then look no further than a furniture hire and buy solution!

It’s absolutely normal for most downsizers to have held onto their much-loved furniture for a good 20-25 year time frame. It’s also absolutely normal for the house to have that 25 -30 year old ‘look’.

My job however is to help you with what your ‘younger gen’ are looking for, in order to help you sell at the top dollar.

There are a couple of ways to look at furniture hire tips for downsizers.

Firstly, the ‘sell it all and hire’ solution.

This way, you can decide what you want to buy later once you have moved into your new home. Many of our clients have chosen this method. They know what they don’t want to take with them (or take very minimal items) so it’s best they jump on eBay or organise the charity pick-up to give complete freedom.
Then, call the furniture hire company to decide how to furnish your family home for the ‘new gen’ buyer.

Secondly, keep the lot and transfer the lot to your new downsized home solution.

This way, a client will change nothing and do nothing about the ‘look’ of the home, however, you will need to dispose of some as it likely won’t all fit! You will save hire costs, however, you are not saving in the long run. You will still have to transport or discard the furniture you don’t want or need. You will also need to consider the cost of not presenting your home for sale.

Lastly, my preferred option – the hybrid solution.

My recommended approach is to actually work with an interior designer and get them to help you with what to buy, what to keep, then hire the rest! It’s the perfect solution. You get what you want to furnish your new start in life, you save some hire costs as you only hire what is excess to what you need for your new home. You get the best of both worlds.

So, if you do have some time up your sleeve and some budget, and you aren’t downsizing for a little while, invest in some professional advice and think about taking the hybrid approach.

If you have absolutely no time and have some budget, clear it out and hire the lot and give yourself a fresh start in your new home.
